What goes in underneath.
The board is only ever as good as what's underneath it. Whatever the range, every deck I build uses UC4 pressure-treated joists and Trex Protect joist tape as standard, and ground-level decks sit on plastic subframes on a concrete raft foundation.

Questions about Trex Signature.
What makes Trex Signature different from Transcend?
Signature is the architectural range: a sleeker, more contemporary profile with less pronounced woodgrain, designed for modern outdoor spaces. Transcend has a deeper, more traditional woodgrain look and a wider colour palette.
Can Trex Signature be paired with a railing system?
Yes. It's designed to pair with the Trex Signature aluminium railing system. I install the decking and the railing as one job.
Does Trex Signature need any maintenance?
No sanding, staining or sealing. A clean with warm soapy water is all it needs.
Is Trex Signature grooved for hidden fasteners?
Yes. Every Signature board is grooved for hidden fasteners, giving a clean surface with no visible fixings.
Can you lay Signature on my existing timber frame?
I'll look at it honestly on the site visit, but the board is only as good as what's under it. My standard is UC4 pressure-treated joists and Trex Protect joist tape, with plastic subframes on a concrete raft for ground-level decks, and if your existing frame isn't up to that, I'll tell you and replace it.
How long does installation take?
Most residential decks take a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on size and complexity. I'll give you a precise timeline once I've seen the space.
