The space your guests never want to leave. Bespoke garden bars built with integrated counters, mood lighting, sound systems, and composite decking, designed around how you actually entertain.
A Beams & Braces garden bar isn't a converted shed with a shelf in it. It's a properly designed, built-in bar space with a solid counter, integrated electrics for refrigeration and sound, atmospheric lighting, and materials that look as good in ten years as they do on day one.
We design every bar around how you entertain, whether that's a compact indoor-outdoor space for summer evenings, or a larger year-round bar room with full insulation and heating. Each one is bespoke, and each one is the project clients tell us was the best decision they made.
We talk through how you entertain, what drinks you serve, how many guests, and what kind of atmosphere you want. The design follows the brief.
Sketched layout, elevation drawings, material specification, and a fixed price. Everything itemised, structure, joinery, electrics, lighting, and decking area.
Concrete pad for the bar building, plus sub-base for decking or patio. We coordinate both so the levels work perfectly together.
Frame, cladding, roofing, joinery, electrics, lighting, plumbing point, counter installation, and decking, all on one programme, one team.
Full walkthrough of lighting circuits, appliance connections, and controls. Electrical certificate and warranty. First round is on you.
"Every person who comes to our garden asks about the bar. It's genuinely impressive, the counter, the lighting, the way it all flows onto the deck. Beams & Braces delivered something beyond our expectations."
"We use it year-round because they built it fully insulated. Summer evenings, Christmas parties, it's always the favourite room in the house. The build quality is superb and it looked good from day one."
"We had draft plans of what we wanted and the team refined them brilliantly. The keg fridge, the sound wiring, the under-counter LED, all exactly right. Best investment we've made in this house."
Our garden bar projects typically range from £20,000 for a compact open-fronted bar unit to £45,000+ for a fully insulated, year-round bar room with bespoke joinery, composite decking area, and premium specification. The biggest variables are size, insulation level, countertop material, and whether we're installing a composite deck alongside. We'll give you a fully itemised fixed-price quote after the site visit.
Yes, we've installed keg fridges and line connections on several builds. We wire and plumb for the keg system, including a glycol chiller if required for longer line runs. We don't supply the tap or keg equipment itself, but we'll work from your specification and make sure everything is in place for you to connect it up. We can also recommend local suppliers.
In most cases, no, garden bars fall within Permitted Development rights for outbuildings, provided they meet the standard size and height restrictions. We assess this as part of the design process. Note that if your garden bar will be used commercially (as a licensed premises or for paid events), different licensing and planning rules may apply, we can advise on this separately.
We offer granite (most popular, durable, looks premium, heat resistant), solid oak or iroko hardwood (warm pub feel, requires oiling), compact laminate (practical, wide colour range, very durable), and quartz composite (premium, zero maintenance). Each option has different character and maintenance requirements and we'll show you samples at the design meeting.
Both work well, it depends on how you want to use it. Open-fronted bars (with a folding shutter or bi-fold opening) are ideal for summer entertaining and give a more social, festival feel. Enclosed and insulated bars let you use the space year-round. We can also build a hybrid, an enclosed insulated back section with an open serving counter at the front, so you get the best of both.
